As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

Purpose - To support the restructure of the Corporate Risk Strategy team specifically to manage the resource pool of Business Initiative Consultants. This role will help management with initiatives for the development and deployment of fungible resources appropriately based on business need. (expected direct reports 7)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support work undertaken by the Senior Strategy Consultants on the team and provide resources and analytical support needed for initiatives.
  • Provide senior level strategic consulting services to Corporate Risk Leadership team utilizing in-depth industry knowledge and expertise
  • Partner with executive management across Corporate Risk to define business strategy and create / execute corresponding business plans and initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-Corporate Risk initiatives including organizational and technology components. May also span into other businesses and functions outside of Corporate Risk.
  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leaders in Corporate Risk to help them identify, structure, and address strategic questions and challenges, particularly on complex, unstructured business problems.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of strategic planning experience
  • 3+ years of management experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Banking and/or Risk experience
  • Ability to work across multiple lines of business leading large scale initiatives
  • Management consulting experience at a top-tier consulting firm
  • Strategic planning experience in translating leadership vision into executable strategies and initiatives enterprise-wide
  • Previous strategy consulting firm background
  • Exposure to US banking regulatory requirements (CCAR, RRP, etc.).
  • Understanding of and experience developing effective enterprise risk programs and strategies in a large bank environment.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problem statements, identify solutions and then drive the execution of those solutions through a team environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively in an ever-evolving environment and successfully address multiple, high-priority matters.
  • Exceptional capability in partnering and collaborating with a breadth of stakeholders and constituents including line of business and functional senior leaders across a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex ideas in a straightforward manner and also inspire large teams and effectively influence internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to drive multiple agendas simultaneously to achieve continuous outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership track record with ability to lead and assess talent as well as develop high performing individuals.
